- HCI
HCI stands for human-computer interaction, the field of study that examines how humans interact with computers.
- Ergonomics
Field of study concerned with designing equipment and devices that fit the human body and mind.
- Affordance
Something that enables an action.
- Bruce Tognazzini (“Tog”)
Principal at the Nielsen Norman Group and famed usability consultant, particularly well-known for his work in interaction design.
- Bill Scott
UI engineer who has done prominent work at Yahoo, Netflix, and PayPal. Author of the book Designing Web Interfaces.
- Happy Path
The easiest path that a user can take in order to complete a task.
- Cognitive Task Analysis
Type of task analysis aimed at understanding the user’s cognition.
- Hierarchical Task Analysis
Type of task analysis focused on breaking down tasks into subtasks to thoroughly understand the steps involved.
- Bodystorming
An HCI method whereby a digital interaction is acted out physically.
- User Journey
A representation of a particular user’s entire interaction with a company or product, typically over the course of a period of time.
